Black Lives Matter
Black Lives Matter.
Black Lives Matter, period.
Above is a picture of my son. He is black. I would be posting this even if he was not my son because…
Black Lives Matter.
The murder of George Floyd and many black men and women before him deeply disturbs me because…
Black Lives Matter.
Before I begin posting more of my usual messy & mindful musings and content, I want to make a few things clear.
- I am an antiracist. This means that I actively support antiracist ideologies, do my best to help enact an antiracist agenda, including fighting residential segregation, defunding the police and criminal-justice reform, speaking against racist policies and racist elected officials, and much more.
- I am committed to fighting back towards the systems I benefit from. I will keep putting in the work, even at the risk of making a mistake. I will continue to listen to people of color and learn from them for the rest of my life. I will take action against racial injustice, racist violence against people of color, and systemic racism.
- It is my intention that my blog is a place of inclusion. I want to expand my blog to amplify black voices, share more resources, shine a light on black businesses, and do my part the best I can. Again, not for recognition, but to do what I think is right and just.
So please know that when you see my next post of a cake or about a parenting tip that I continue to be deeply affected by these issues and continue to be an active antiracist. Please comment below or DM me, as dialogue is so important right now. Thank you for reading this post and thank you for continuing to follow my little corner of the blogosphere.
xo,
Nicole
