Sanctuary
Sanctuary…Just before the quarantine we had half the house painted and some floor tile installed. That meant the house was in complete disarray, stuff everywhere, piles and piles. I began the Konmari Method of “Marie Kondo-ing” our house. I had managed to fill some bags with items to donate and others with trash. Then the world started going sideways and so did our house projects.
The day we began our quarantine we all came down with a nasty cold, that we are still trying to get past. Taking care of each other, comforting Noah, homeschooling, Dan working, and trying to settle into this new reality has left little time to get back to the piles. We’ve been chipping away at it, slowly some spaces in the house have been cleared allowing for some much needed indoor breathing space.
Today our family room has re-emerged, even a few Spring decorations made their way onto the shelves. I’m sitting in my comfy chair, listening to one of my favorite albums from the 80’s, my husband and son close by, cats, rain falling outside, with gratitude washing over me. I’m well aware that I am having a very different experience in this moment than many people in the world. I’m in my sanctuary, I hope you are too, safe, healthy, finding a little peace during this very surreal time.
xo,
Nicole
