Self-care and Grief
Process, purge and let go…process, purge and let go, process, purge and let go. This has been my week. Between my mother passing away last Saturday and it being the end of Virgo season I’ve been driven to release the stuff of my past, both literally and figuratively.
It’s been a huge and heavy project. For days I’ve been pouring through boxes and bins of old photos, memorabilia, letters, and documents. I will be writing more about this purging process. For now I wanted to tell you what I’ve been doing to take care of myself, emotionally and spiritually.
💗 I created a little altar/shrine to honor my parents. It has a few photos of them, objects and candles. I light it every morning and blow it out just before bed. I will maintain it for about two weeks and then take it down.
💗 Taking baths (with salts, bath balms etc) to clear my energy.
💗 Spray Palo Santo in the areas where I have been going through photos and papers to clear the room’s energy.
💗 Using essential oils morning, noon, and night, both in my body and in my diffuser.
💗 And most importantly taking breaks, like the one I’m taking right now. I just took this pic to show you one of my favorite things I do on a break, coloring and listening to or watching my favorite podcasts and YouTube channels. Today it is The Water Trio (one of my favorite astrology shows) and coloring in my Coloringbook of Shadows
I hope that if you are going through a tough time/process that you are mindful of taking self-care breaks. What do you do for self-care during particularly difficult times? As always, I welcome comments below.
xo,
Nicole
